RAINN operates the country's only national hotline for victims of sexual assault. Through the hotline--1.800.656.HOPE, victims from all across America receive free, confidential help from RAINN's network of over 850 local counseling centers. RAINN's hotline has helped more than 320,000 victims of rape and sexual assault since it was founded in 1994 with help from Tori Amos.
Yahoo!, a global Internet media company and longtime supporter of RAINN, will host the charity auction on Yahoo! Auctions.
The music industry plays an integral role in RAINN's ability to thrive in its mission to provide free, confidential counseling 24 hours a day for the thousands of callers who reach out every month. Recording artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Dave Matthews Band and R.E.M, have all realized the importance and quality of RAINN's work and have teamed up to make sure that when a victim of sexual assault raises the phone someone is there to help them. RAINN does not receive any government funding. RAINN exists entirely thanks to the generosity of individuals and corporations.
