Chet Atkins fans, guitarists to gather for annual convention

The Chet Atkins Appreciation Society (CAAS) will hold its sixteenth annual convention July 12th through July 15th at the Music City Sheraton in Nashville, TN. The fingerstyle guitar aficionados gather each year to honor Mr. Guitar for his legendary contributions to music and the guitar. During the day they gather for performances and workshops as well as a wide range of exhibits and vendors. Saturday night they will have a special concert. Performers tentatively scheduled to appear include Tommy Emmanuel, Jim and Morning Nichols, Richard Smith, Muriel Anderson, and Los Indios Tabajaras among many others.

Gibson will have a booth full of guitars and give away a wine red Chet Atkins Tennessean.

Chet's original fingerpicking guitar technique has never gone out of style. In response to his legions of loyal followers, Gibson introduced a new, updated edition of the legendary Chet Atkins Country Gentleman in 1987, followed by the Chet Atkins Tennessean three years later.
