Gibson Bluegrass Showcase surprises Titans coach with team Dobro
Jeff Fisher, coach of the NFL Tennessee Titans, is regarded as one of the top coaches in the league, especially after taking his team to last years Super Bowl. Nashville, home of the Titans and Gibson Guitar Corp., is flooded with excited fans. The luthiers at the Gibson Bluegrass Showcase are no exception. During this years inaugural "Jeff Fisher Show" on TV2, WKRN, in Nashville, they presented Fisher with a hand-made, one-of-a-kind Titans Dobro resonator guitar.
The Gibson Bluegrass Showcase, located at Opry Mills in Nashville, is the first factory in a mall and an innovative departure for the musical instrument industry. The brainchild of Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, the Showcase features live music, craftsmen working on instruments, a gift shop, and restaurant. "We're excited about having the Titans in Nashville and couldn't be more pleased to show coach Fisher a visible sign of our support," said Juszkiewicz.
Bluegrass artist John Cowan did the presenting on behalf of the craftsman, which was broadcast in front of an impressed, live audience. "Thats beautiful," exclaimed a surprised and delighted Fisher. "Do you give lessons?" he asked Cowan. Cowan then proceeded to play a few licks on the instrument. The Titans new acquisition, star receiver Carl Pickens, proceeded to play a few notes, too, wondering aloud if he might get one in the future.
