Recently, Jim Moore, founder of The Animal Band, presented the band's first annual "Mentor Award" to Henry Juszkiewicz, CEO of Gibson Guitar Corporation.
The ceremony took place during the band's fifth annual live show at the Grand Old Opry House in Nashville. The award recognizes leaders in the community who provide good role models for children.
During his acceptance speech, Henry urged the crowd of more than 3,000 kids to follow their dreams and to stay in school. Also recognized were Vicki Yates, anchorwoman on NewsChannel 5, Nashville's CBS affiliate, and Charles Davis, founder of the Charles Davis Foundation and a former member of the Chicago Bulls.
The show marked the end of the Animal Band's "Dream and Jellybeans" Tour, which played to packed audiences of elementary school kids across the country. Kids are enthralled by the lively show which features a lot of interactivity. During a song called "Rollercoaster," Jim has the kids act as if they are riding the coaster, including having them jump out of their seats.
The Animal Band was Gibson's first children's music act to receive a full artist endorsement deal with Gibson Guitars. The lead guitarist is currently playing a cherry Lucille, while Jim loves to show off his custom tiger-striped Chet Atkins SST.
