With ever increasing ability to respond quickly to consumer
demand, Gibson USA is proud to unveil at Summer NAMM '99 the
SG/Les Paul with Deluxe Maestro. Through the vision of CEO Henry Juszkiewicz,
Gibson has bridged the gap between consumer wants and our craftsman's
ability to produce their dream guitar.
No other guitar has produced the amount of traffic on the
gibson.com Forums
as the Gibson '61 SG Reissue. As a result, Gibson
USA was able to read the pulse of SG enthusiasts and translate
their thoughts and words into a finished product. Whether it
be Gibson "listening in" on consumers' conversations
on the Gibson Forums, or our own Gypsy Carnes, Senior Director
of Customer Support, conducting focused internet surveys, this
method of communicating in real time has opened the door to a
new era in the relationship between consumers and manufacturers.
This new SG/Les Paul brings back two of the most popular (and requested)
features of the original 1960's SG, the lyre engraved Maestro
deluxe tailpiece and the original tapered horn. These two features
were the overwhelming choice of requested revisions to the current
production model, according to gibson.com SG enthusiasts. "We
want to give the Gibson customer what they want and this project
was the perfect opportunity for us to show that Gibson USA listens",
said Fred Greene, General Manager of Gibson USA. "We enjoy
the opportunity to get to know our customers and listen to their
opinions, good or bad. Our product manager, plant manager Mickey
Butler, and quality manager all monitor the gibson.com Forum
pages daily and we look forward to having everyone join in on
the conversation."
The SG/Les Paul with Deluxe Maestro is just the beginning of new
product introductions originating from the dialog being shared
on the internet. Stay tuned for more to come!
