Gibson Musical Instruments Davey Johnstone powers up Elton John with custom Steinberger GL, Les Pauls

Davey Johnstone is an "old stager." As the lead guitarist in Elton John's band he is a veteran of more Elton albums and tours than he cares to remember.

"A few of my guitars have been around since the very early day. I like the Les Paul which Elton gave me when all my stuff was stolen. I have another couple of Les Pauls, ... and I still love my Steinbergers," he told the British magazine, Guitarist, in their September issue. "Of all the newer types of electric guitars, the Steinberger, to me provides far and away the cleanest distortion every time. I've been playing them for a real long time."

Johnstone is pictured here with a custom Steinberger GL. The state-of-the-art GL offers guitarists the same technological advances and ergonomic design as Ned Steinberger's original masterpiece. GL guitars are made from the patented Steinberger Blend reinforced carbon-graphite, molded in one piece to create a guitar with exquisite sustain, durability and clarity.
