Chet Atkins doing the RockWalk from Nashville to Hollywood | |
|
It's a giant step from Nashville to Hollywood, but Chet Atkins will be taking it on Friday when he's inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk--in a ceremony at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. The man with the CGP degree (Certified Guitar Player) will put his legendary hands and his signature in cement, which will then be installed in the Rockwalk at the Hollywood Guitar Center on Sunset Blvd. The ceremony, scheduled for Sept. 26 at 12 pm, comes only four days after Chet was honored with the first ever "Chet Atkins Award" and the creation of two music scholarships in his name. In commemoration of the event, Gibson USA will provide a Chet Atkins CE which Chet will sign for permanent display at the Hollywood location of Guitar Center. Atkins will be the second prominent Gibson player to be inducted into the RockWalk in the last week. Last Friday legendary rocker Stephen Stills dipped his hands in cement and signed a Gibson Firebird for the RockWalk.
