Meet Herb Ellis at Amro Musitron before Memphis concerts | |
|
Herb Ellis, who helped define modern jazz guitar in the 1950s as a member of the Oscar Peterson Trio, will stop by Amro Musitron in Memphis, TN on Saturday, October 4 at 2 pm. to meet fans and sign autographs. Later that evening, he will play two shows at the New Daisy Theatre, at 7:30 and 10:00 pm., sharing the bill with guitarists Calvin Newborn and Terry Holmes. Herb's work with the Peterson group (which still reunites for international tours), along with his own solo work, has earned him "guitar icon" status. With his Gibson signature guitar, the ES-165 Herb Ellis, he continues to be a staunch defender of the purity of the jazz form (see an interview with Herb in the Amplfier magazine). Tickets for the event are $19 for reserved table seating and $16 for unreserved balcony and are available by calling 901-725-1528. If you wish to attend the meet and greet with Herb Ellis, contact Amro Musitron at 901-323-8766.
