Jackyl, Duke and NO NUKES

Sept. 18 update -- The information number for the No Nukes concert, as well as for the No Nukes cause, is 202-328-0002.

The D.C. concert, scheduled for Sept. 24 and 25, is one in a series that includes shows in Las Vegas, San Diego and other locations.

No Nukes began back in 1979 with a legendary week-long performance at New York's Madison Square Garden. Shows benefit the anti-nuclear power movement, with the goal of achieving a "sound and sustainable radioactive waste policy" for the U.S. government. Goals also include preventing unsafe transport of radioactive waste across the U.S. as well as stopping "unnecessary nuclear dumps on Native American and predominantly Hispanic lands."

If you are in the Oklahoma City area tonight and feeling rowdy, you might want to catch Gibson endorsees Jackyl in concert... cause you'll know they're gonna break somethin'.

In conjunction with the concert, Epiphone guitars has supplied a Special II to KATT radio in Oklahoma City. The guitar will be given away live on the air as a promotion of the Jackyl show.

For more info on the concert or giveaway, contact KATT at 405-848-0100.

Ever busy Gibson endorsee Duke Levine has wasted no time getting his solo career back on track after his stint on the '97 Chapin tour.

On September 24, Duke and Daring Records celebrate the release of Levine's latest, entitled Lava. The record release party will be held at Johnny D's in Summerville, Maryland.

Lava is a first-rate twang fest, featuring Duke's country-based, but stylistically diverse playing. It's worth noting that unlike most instrumental albums, Levine's work never sacrifices melody and tone for the sake of showing off. For more info on the release party, call 617-776-7450.

The following evening, Levine heads to D.C. to join John Jennings Chapin Carpenter to take part in Bonnie Raitt's No Nuke's benefit concert. On the September 25th bill is Carpetner, Bonnie Raitt, Rodney Crowell and John Trudell. The event takes place at the Warner Theatre.

Stay tuned to Gibson.Net for more information on No Nuke concert series as it becomes available.
