| More Gibsons from Chapin Tour, Courtesy of Gillian Welch | ||
|
John Jennings and Duke Levine weren't the only Gibson guitarslingers on Mary Chapin Carpenter's recent tour. Songwriter extraordinaire Gillian Welch and her string-bending sidekick David Rawlings played opening sets for Chapin on Gibsons, too. Before taking the stage, Welch warmed up with her longtime stage and songwriting pal... a J-50 from the mid '60s. Rawlings curled up with an L-5 reissue to strum a few chords. The 28-year-old Almo Sounds recording artist heads out on her own now to bring her unique brand of "neo-traditionalist" music to the people. And before we say goodbye to Duke and John, check out this "arty" shot of Duke Levine demonstrating how a Custom*Art*Historic Les Paul Elegant is supposed to look on stage. |
