More Gibsons from Chapin Tour, Courtesy of Gillian Welch

John Jennings and Duke Levine weren't the only Gibson guitarslingers on Mary Chapin Carpenter's recent tour.

Songwriter extraordinaire Gillian Welch and her string-bending sidekick David Rawlings played opening sets for Chapin on Gibsons, too. Before taking the stage, Welch warmed up with her longtime stage and songwriting pal... a J-50 from the mid '60s. Rawlings curled up with an L-5 reissue to strum a few chords.

The 28-year-old Almo Sounds recording artist heads out on her own now to bring her unique brand of "neo-traditionalist" music to the people.

And before we say goodbye to Duke and John, check out this "arty" shot of Duke Levine demonstrating how a Custom*Art*Historic Les Paul Elegant is supposed to look on stage.
