Gibson Musical Instruments Gibson and Waltrip to wave green flag at NASCAR Cafe opening

Two of Nashville's most famous products -- Gibson Musical Instruments and Darrell Waltrip -- will help wave the "green flag" at tonight's grand opening of the NASCAR Cafe in Nashville.

Waltrip, official spokesperson for the Cafe, is celebrating his 25th anniversary on the NASCAR circuit. To commemorate Waltrip's legendary career, as well as the opening of the Cafe, Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz will present Waltrip with a 2-of-a-kind Les Paul Junior featuring the NASCAR logo and a special "25th Anniversary" graphic. (For the record, Gibson's 25-year anniversary in Nashville comes up in 1999.) Waltrip's guitar sports serial number DW001; an identical guitar, numbered DW002, will be presented to the Cafe to be put on permanent display.

The NASCAR Cafe, located at 305 Broadway, is the newest addition to Nashville's recently revitalized Lower Broadway/Second Avenue area, known locally as "The District." The "fun-filled evening celebrating N> Racing Legends" will be 7:30.

Waltrip, a Kentucky native, paid his racing dues at the Nashville Speedway before breaking into the NASCAR ranks. He still resides in the Nashville suburb of Franklin and owns a successful car dealership.
