Tobias covering all the "basses," from reggae to R&B to Christian rock |
|
Tobias Basses may be a full-fledged division of one of the world's largest instrument manufacturers, but the spirit of personalized, individual service for professional bass players is still very much alive and well. . Glen Browne of Ziggy Marley and the Melodymakers recently expressed an interest in Tobias basses. After extensive discussion of his needs, Tobias sent him a Killer B five-string made of Swamp Ash. Browne dug it so much, he said he wants to make it "the sound of reggae" and play it exclusively. Ziggy and crew are currently in Jamaica right now recording and planning their next tour. Brian McKnight, one of the biggest singer/songwriters on the pop/R&B scene today is now playing Tobias. Brian is playing bass (among other instruments) on his upcoming tour and he will be playing a Tobias Killer B five-string with a Signature neck. It was built in the Tobias Custom Shop and is one of a kind. Tobias also signed a deal with Dalton Roraback of the band Grammatrain. The group, previously featured on Gibson.net has had a string of hit songs on the Christian Rock charts and are touring extensively. Hailing from Seattle, Grammatrain's music is reminiscent of Soundgarden and other Seattle groups in the "grunge" rock genre. Dalton is playing his brand of grunge on a Tobias Growler 4 string Oil Finish.
