Oasis: All Around the World with Epiphone |
|
No, that wasn't a feature-length Epiphone ad on MTV last night. That was Oasis, All Around The World, which featured the Britpop juggernaut in concert, loaded to the gills with Epiphone guitars. Riding the crest of their third Epic release Be Here Now, the quintet performed in their hometown of Manchester, playing to a crowd that filled a stadium normally reserved for football (er... um... "soccer") matches. Aside from the Pink Floyd-esque, quarter-sphere stage set, the concert was fairly stripped down; guitars, bass, drums and vocals. Lead guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher did pull out a gorgeous Bigsby-equipped Gibson ES-335 for the single "D'You Know What I Mean." But other than that, brother Noel and rhythm guitarist Bonehead were strictly Epiphone, playing every conceivable humbucker-equipped semi-hollowbody the company has ever produced. The only notable omission, ironically, was the "Supernova," Noel's own signature model Epi. Perhaps he's too humble to play it live, thinking it might draw attention to himself... yeah, right. To check out the Noel Gallagher Supernova as well as the rest of Epiphone's excellent line on semi-hollows, visit your local authorized Epiphone dealer.
