Ascoltare per credere: la potenza e le possibilità delle accordature aperte e alternativeI grandi chitarristi spesso si sono fatti notare per la loro capacità di andare oltre la normalità, e un modo ben collaudato di riuscirci comporta il superamento dell'"accordatura tradizionale" (Mi, La, Re, Sol, Si, Mi) in favore di sperimentazioni per accordature alternative e aperte. Sono accordature, dalle configurazioni più collaudate ad alcune più radicali e originali, che hanno aiutato molti grandi artisti a emergere nel corso degli anni e possono rappresentare un mezzo rapido con cui il chitarrista agli inizi della carriera può catturare l'attenzione dei suoi spettatori. La possibilità di variare spesso le accordature consente di accedere facilmente a strutture melodiche insolite o a parti in autoaccompagnamento che possono risultare estremamente difficili da ottenere con accordature tradizionali. Sono veramente in grado di suscitare l'attenzione dell'ascoltatore e hanno contribuito al successo di molti brani rock, blues, jazz e country nel corso degli anni, ed era difficile rendersi conto che questi brani non erano eseguiti soltanto affidandosi alle accordature tradizionali, almeno finché non si provava a suonarli.
