Rule 7: Look For A Semi-Production Instrument.

"I'd put up our semi-production guitars agains anybody's handmade guitars for lack of flaws. We don't allow flaws."

Semi-production guitars and basses are the best values. Manufacturing processes which require repeatable precision such as sawing and routing are performed by automated machinery because automation is cost efficient. However, when skilled hands can do a better job, a specialized craftsman takes the instrument in hand to shape, fit, sand, finish, buff, install electronics or adjust.
