Rule 2: Verify Service and Warranty.

Ask to see the buyer's warranty card or booklet. A lifetime warranty indicates complete confidence by the manufacturer.

Logic would tell you that the manufacturer doesn't expect any serious faults in his product for the length of the warranty but possible problems afterwards. A lifetime warranty gives the assurance that the manufacturer doesn't ever expect serious problems.

Ask about the company's reputation for parts availability. You can't play an instrument that stays in shop for long periods of time.
