In 1958, Gibson made one more change to the classic Les Paul Standard. By discontinuing the traditional Gold finish and introducing the new Cherry Sunburst effect, Gibson created what was to become the most collected guitar today - the "Sunburst" Les Paul Standard. The 1959 and 1960 Les Paul Reissues are direct descendants of this legendary instrument. As with the rest of the Historic Collection's Les Pauls, all of the necessary appointments are present. The AAA maple "dish" is carved with the same distinct character as the original Les Paul "Sunburst" and appointments such as a holly wood headstock veneer are topped off with a silk screened Les Paul logo. The '59 Reissue maintains the neck profile made famous by its historic counterpart while the '60 Reissue's neck provides the fast action made famous by the 1960 Les Paul. These guitars should be considered as the grand finale to any Les Paul collection.
