Introduced in 1952 as an enhanced ES-175, the ES-295's Cadillac gold look soon found its way into the hands of some of the young rock and roll stars of the early 1950s. Scotty Moore rocked Elvis Presley's first recordings with the ES-295 while other artists used this instrument to express their rock-a-billy message. Today's ES-295 carries on this tradition with a significant enhancement. Replacing the original trapeze tailpiece with a tune-o-matic avoids the intonation problems of the early ES-295s. Vibrato capabilities are also possible with the custom built Bigsby tailpiece. Finished off with the original gold paint used by Gibson in the 1950s. This model has been discontinued and will become a much sought after collectors item much like its predecessors.
