In 1924 under the leadership of General Manager Guy Hunt, the first major breakthrough in quality banjos was initiated. The Mastertone Banjo construction was perfected and received merited world wide acclaim. So universal was the acceptance of the Gibson Mastertones of this era that subsequently other manufactors and individuals attempted to copy them in every detail, including design, shape, inlays, general apperance and construction.
