|Gibson Original is proud to present the F5-G Custom Autumn Burst F-Style Mandolins. These two new custom versions of the legendary F5-G mandolin, as envisioned by Dennis Vance of The Mandolin Store, are truly awe-inspiring both in tone and appearance.
Both versions were painstakingly worked back with Dennis and the OAI Team via OAI Master Luthier, David Harvey. These details include the stunning gloss lacquer Autumn Burst color, the binding and fret appointments, as well as fingerboard widths, radiuses and other small details.
The first version features an ivoroid bound, 20 large fret, radiused fingerboard that is cut off after the 20th fret. The width of the fingerboard at the nut is 1 and 3/16”, an earlier Gibson nut width which is a little wider than the classic Gibson Loar era width of 1 and 1/16”. This version was developed for the player who prefers the feel of a wider radiused fingerboard and maximum pick clearance, provided by not having a fingerboard extension.
The second version features an ivoroid bound, 22 fret radiused fingerboard, complete with scooped fingerboard extension, wielding the traditional Gibson Loar era nut width, measuring 1 and 1/16”. This version was conceived for the player who prefers the look and width of a traditional Gibson Loar era fingerboard while getting the added pick clearance of a scooped fingerboard.
Both of these amazing mandolin models boast the time tested and tone proven Gibson mandolin tone bar construction and graduations, assuring pure sonic satisfaction. Additionally, both models feature a multi-bound spruce top, a single bound maple back, a figured maple neck, and a single bound peghead.
Gibson Original is extremely pleased to have worked with Dennis on these exclusive models, which can now be purchased at The Mandolin Store.
