Saul Williams Presents The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust

Trent Reznor has been one of the more vocal—or is that hungry?—members of the bite-the-hand-that-feeds brigade for ages now, what with his frequent gripes about CDs being too expensive for the average consumer. It figures, then, that he’d leap into the breach alongside kindred spirits Radiohead for a disc that fans can download for whatever price they might choose. As the enthusiastic co-producer of poet-rapper Saul William's new disc, entitled The Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust, Reznor has put the "sale" of Williams' disc front and center on the Nine Inch Nails website. "There are obvious similarities in how Radiohead just released their new record and they way we've chosen to," Reznor's said. "After thinking about this way too much, I feel we've improved upon their idea in a few ways that benefit you, the consumer. You obviously will be the judge of this in the end. One thing that is very different in our situation is that Saul's not the household name (yet!) that Radiohead is, and that means we need your support on this more than ever."—David Sprague
