Tool is Not Ready with New Album
Tool has been forced to issue a statement in regards to a misunderstanding between Tool guitarist Adam Jones and a fan during a meet and greet: "Last night, Adam Jones, in a private conversation with fans attending the Portland Tool concert, joked that the band's new album was not only finished but coming out the next day," the statement reads. "Unfortunately, his off-the-cuff joke was taken out of context. Work on the forthcoming album is ongoing and as soon as it is done, trust me, we will be the first to let everyone know."
Jones also clarified the misunderstanding via Twitter, saying: "FYI 'the record's done and its coming out tomorrow' is what i said yesterday followed by 'just kidding'..."
There has been a lot of speculation regarding new music from Tool. The band's last album 10,000 Days, was released in 2006. Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan recently told Rolling Stone that he has to wait for the other band members to finish recording the music before he can begin the process of writing lyrics: "I wait for them to bring music to me. They tend to go back over and over stuff. It's a long process." However, Maynard did acknowledge that the entire band share the responsibility of completing the album. "We're all in this together," said the singer. "I'm not pointing any fingers. I will take full responsibility if I have to."
