The world has come a long way from the days when John Lennon could serenade fans with a holiday sentiment like “Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a seasonal peacenik ode of our own this year. The Killers have opted to provide listeners with their own post-modern tidings of comfort and joy on an uplifting new tune entitled “Don’t Shoot Me Santa”—a hope we imagine has been expressed by virtually every Claus-believing child in America at one point or another. In addition to keeping Kringle-on-kid violence at bay, the song also aims to raise cash for Bono’s RED campaign, an effort to help women and children in Africa combat the AIDS epidemic. —David Sprague
