Two years after the death of their first frontman Scott Weiland and four months after the untimely demise of their second singer Chester Bennington, the remaining members of Stone Temple Pilots announced their latest member – former The X Factor contestant, Jeff Gutt.

At an invite-only comeback show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, the band unveiled Gutt as their newest singer, telling Rolling Stone later that he came out on top after they auditioned close to 15,000 singers, over the course of the last two years. According to guitarist Dean DeLeo, they only found Gutt late in the process, in September of last year.

STP have also revealed that they’re not only looking at Gutt to cover their (legendary) back catalogue, but also sing on their new material, including their upcoming seventh studio album, which is currently being readied for release next spring. Talking about his new bandmate Dean DeLeo said, “not just anybody can sing this catalog. You need someone who really knows how to sing. And Jeff kind of has it all, man. He has that baritone, and he's also able to get into that tenor world. He's a real singer."

Stone Temple Pilots have also released a brand new single – their first new music since High Rise, their 2013 EP with Bennington – titled ‘Meadow,’ which recalls the signature STP sound. Listen to the new song here.
