Steely Dan founder and long-time mainstay Walter Becker passed away earlier this month, on September 3. Becker had continued to tour with the band, but was forced to sit out Steely Dan’s appearances at the Classic East and West concerts in July, owing to ill-health.

It has now been announced that Steely Dan will continue to play live, just as Becker’s Steely Dan co- founder Donald Fagen had promised when he said, “I intend to keep the music we created together alive as long as I can with the Steely Dan band."

Steely Dan have announced a forthcoming tour this October that will see them play eight dates across North America. The tour will kick off in Thackerville, Oklahoma on October 13 and wrap up two weeks later in National Harbor, Maryland on October 25. The band will then travel to the UK to play three shows with the Doobie Brothers. Here’s the full schedule.

In addition, Donald Fagen will also continue his solo tour commitments – including four dates in Japan - with his Nightflyers band through the rest of September. Go here for the complete schedule.
