Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil Talks
Soundgarden already have a new release out this month, Screaming Life/Fopp, which is a reissue of the band’s 1990 compilation on Sub Pop Records, but they’re already thinking about their next release and the release after that one. According to guitarist Kim Thayil, the guys have been working diligently on putting together a special release that will offer a set of the band’s rarities and B-sides.
“It’s been almost 20 years of backburner neglect,” Thayil told Rolling Stone . “The past four years, I’ve taken some action toward getting the ball rolling. Now it’s just a matter of working with Jeff Fura at A&M Records and getting this thing going.”
Thayil also said the band hopes to reissue a remixed version of their debut album, 1988’s Ultramega OK, at some point.
New music is on Soundgarden’s mind, as well. When asked about the band’s follow-up to 2012’s King Animal, Thayil replied, “Yeah, the band has talked about that. That’s something that we’ll look at in the next two years.”
