Smashing Pumpkins to Release a Pair of “Epic” Albums in 2015
Frontman Billy Corgan made the new albums announcement yesterday (March 25) in a post on the band’s website , saying the discs will be titled Monuments to an Elegy and Day for Night.
“For those interested in sound, think: guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars,” wrote Corgan, “but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic.”
Corgan added that recording sessions began yesterday, with “plenty of songs [already] written and ready to go.” The discs are being produced by Howard Willing, who first worked with Smashing Pumpkins on their 1998 album, Adore. Fans will be able to follow the band’s progress on the group’s new website. “Items regarding each day’s recording will be shared that same evening, with song titles, lyrics, poetic impressions, pictures, sound clips, studio gear and the like offered for a circuitous, bird’s eye view of the process as it unfolds,” wrote Corgan.
A new single is also expected by the end of this year.
