The Scorpions and Megadeth have been ruling the road on their 2017 Crazy World Tour of North America, but now, the German group has announced via an official statement that frontman Klaus Meine has "severe laryngitis" and could risk "permanent vocal damage" if he were to continue the trek.

"(We) truly hate to disappoint our fans, and hope to come back to America soon, but this time we have no choice but to cancel," the statement says. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.

"My deepest gratitude to the Scorpions for taking us on tour," added Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. "Talk about a boyhood dream coming true. My best wishes and we'll be waiting."

The tour started on Sept. 14 and was slated to run through an Oct. 15 gig in Tampa, Florida. The final show that Scorpions and Megadeth played before the cancellation took place on Saturday, Oct. 7, in Los Angeles.
