Is the rampant over-cynicism usually associated with Valentine’s Day starting to fade? Ryan Adams certainly seems to be a fan of the day, releasing a new single called ‘Baby I Love You’ on February 14.

Given that his last album, 2017’s Prisoner, came out of his less-than-amicable breakup with actress Mandy Moore, the new song is decidedly sunnier and hopeful in tone and lyric. The description of the tune on Adam’s site reads: ‘Baby I Love You’ is exactly what it sounds like: A song to one's baby, whom they love—a unique twist on Ryan Adams’ classic recipe, with key ingredient ‘sad’ replaced by ‘happy’.”

The new single is currently available to download and stream, with a physical release expected soon. In addition to releasing the new single, Adams also used the occasion to announce his first live date for 2018 – a gig at Red Rocks on June 14, supported by First Aid Kit.
