Spirit of ’59 in New Joe Bonamassa “Skinnerburst” Les Paul
Joe calls the 1959 model “Principal Skinner” – it’s the most beloved guitar in the blues-rock star’s extensive collection.
The “Skinnerburst” is a detail-perfect recreation of what is possibly the hardest working 1959 Les Paul in the world today. Gibson Custom has scanned, studied and measured every specification, curve and parameter of this guitar to make it available to more players.
The finish is dubbed “Dirty Lemon.” It has custom-wound humbucking pickups, true to JB’s own model. Historically accurate binding colors, aged cellulose trapezoid inlays, hot-hide glue neck construction, and period-correct hardware complete a stunning reproduction.
Of 150 guitars hand-aged by Gibson master luthier Tom Murphy, 50 will be played and signed by Joe Bonamassa himself. A further 150 will be treated to Gibson Custom’s VOS process, making a Limited Edition of 300 guitars in total.
