New Foo Fighters Album Might Be Band’s Longest
In a recent interview with Billboard, Dave Grohl has shared some more information about the Foo Fighters eagerly awaited 8th studio album. Turns out that even though the album will only contain eight songs, it might be the band’s longest. “We're doing things that we've never done before," said Grohl. “And I want to say that it's only eight songs but I think it might be our longest record because, as I was writing these songs, I had to take a cinematic approach.” Speaking of the sound of the new material, Grohl said: “Honestly, there are sections of songs that will really take you by surprise. And then there are choruses that you'll just recognize as Foo Fighters within the first three seconds.”
The recording of the songs at eight different studios across the US has been filmed for an HBO documentary, which Dave revealed will be called Sonic Highways. Dave explained that the documentary is part of the reason for the lengthy songs: “Like I couldn't just write a three-and-a-half-minute long KROQ jingle and film it for the finale of an episode about the history of music in New Orleans, ya know? We really had to step up what we do. The music is a progression or an evolution for sure, but it's a Foo Fighters record.”
No exact date for the new Foo Fighters album has been given as of yet, but both the album and documentary are scheduled to be released in the fall.
