Yes, you heard right, Morrissey has turned down a $75 million dollar offer for a Smiths reunion tour. The deal was that the old Moper only needed to appear with Johnny Marr, but not with estranged members Andy Rourke or Mike Joyce. If the deal had been made, the reconstituted Smiths would have played 50 concerts in 2008 and 2009. When Gibson.com caught up with the ineffable, unflappable raconteur a while back and asked him, if there could ever be a road back to Mr. Marr, if only as compatriots, Morrissey answered without missing a beat, "Too much has happened really, and in actual truth, we don’t actually like each other."

In other news, Morrissey is playing a series of residencies in the U.S. this fall, and will offer a ticket deal to his most hardcore fans in New York and Los Angeles, allowing not only entrance to his multiple shows, but sound checks as well. Sometimes more is really more. --Jaan Uhelszki
