Ever since Metallica unleashed Hardwired...to Self-Destruct late last year, fans have been waiting for the band to announce 2017 North American tour dates. Now, the wait is over, and Metallica has announced a headlining tour of the U.S. and Canada to promote the new release.

The upcoming tour will mark Metallica’s first full-length North American trek since 2009. The dates will kick off May 10 in Baltimore and keep the band on the road through an Aug. 16 in Edmonton, Alberta.


Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat and Gojira will provide support for the tour.

Pre-sale tickets for members of Metallica’s fan club will go on sale starting Tuesday (Feb. 14). Tickets for the general public will go on sale starting Friday (Feb. 17) at 10 a.m. local time at Metallica.com.
