Green Day Cancel Tour Dates
The problems continue for punk rockers Green Day. The band announced that they have been forced to cancel all tour dates for the rest of the year, while shows scheduled for January and February 2013 have been postponed. The news comes in the wake of singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong being admitted to rehab for treatment of substance abuse last month.
In an official statement bassist Mike Dirnt said "Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern. We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon."
As a consolation to the band's disappointed fans Green Day has decided to move up the release of ¡Tré!, the third installment in the band's album trio that's currently being released. Drummer Tré Cool said in the statement "We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned. If we couldn't be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing."
¡Tré!, which was originally scheduled for a January 15 release, has now been moved up to December 11. Be sure to check Green Day's official website for a full list of the canceled and postponed dates.
