New Zealand folk parody duo Bret McKenzie and Jermaine Clement say that the name they chose for their wacky act and hit HBO show Flight of the Conchords came from a Gibson-related dream. “I had this dream about this V formation of Flying V guitars that kind of looked like Concordes, and we just ended up with Flight of the Conchords,” McKenzie explains of the dream he had in 2002, when the guys were just getting their start on the comedy scene. Last month, McKenzie and Clement released The Distant Future EP on Sub Pop records, and are at work on a full-length album, expected to drop later this year. In other good news, their contract with HBO has been renewed, and they’ll be back with a second season of Flight of the Conchords in 2008.
