Coldplay are getting ready to release their first piece of new music since Mylo Xyloto in 2011. The band has recorded the song “Atlas” for the upcoming soundtrack to the movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
This marks the first time that Coldplay has contributed music to a soundtrack. Says Tracy McKnight, Lionsgate's Head of Film Music: “We are so honored that Coldplay, one of the iconic rock bands of our generation, will perform the first song out on the new soundtrack.”
Meanwhile, Coldplay are said to be working on songs for their sixth album: “I’ve been writing songs and I’m so fired up about the band’s future,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told the Daily Star back in November.
