Rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry is the subject of two forthcoming film projects: a feature documentary and a bio-pic. As reported by movie industry publication Deadline, veteran producer and director Jon Brewer is helming the documentary, tentatively titled, simply, “Chuck! The Documentary.”

Brewer’s previous credits include documentaries about Cream, Yes, and Moody Blues, among other bands. “I am very privileged to be able to produce and direct this fully authorized and official story of the legendary Chuck Berry,” he said, in a prepared statement.

Work on the documentary is expected to be completed this summer, with pre-production on the biopic to follow soon afterwards. Both projects are being developed with the cooperation of Berry’s estate, with U.K.-based production company Cardinal Releasing partnering with the rocker’s widow, Thelmetta Berry. Berry passed away in March 2017 at the age of 90. His final album, Chuck, was released posthumously last June.
