Black Sabbath may have retired, but the records keep coming! A limited-edition vinyl box set, The Ten Year War, is out on September 29 via PledgeMusic. The individually-numbered packages will deliver 180-gram “splatter-colored” remastered editions of their first eight albums, from 1970’s Black Sabbath to 1978’s Never Say Die!, alongside a series of rarities and goodies for hardcore fans.

With exclusive artwork created by renowned street artist, graphic designer and activist Shepard Fairey, The Ten Year War is named after a brochure published by Sabbath in 1978 in response to years of negative criticism from the press. It had the tagline “more good press than most - more bad press than any”, and the document mixes original artwork and copies of famously bad reviews by the likes of Billboard and Rolling Stone.

Black Sabbath

The albums have all been remastered from the original tapes. The albums included are:

Black Sabbath

Paranoid

Master Of Reality (including Original Fold-Out Colour Poster)

Vol. 4

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Sabotage

Also included are a pair of rare 7-inch singles, including the Japanese pressing of Sabbath's cover of The Crow track “Evil Woman (Don't Play Your Games With Me)” as featured on their debut, and a Chilean radio promo for their 1970 classic, “Paranoid”, both reproduced in their original sleeves. It will be interesting to see what the reviews are like!
