Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath has made explicit what the band has been intimating for months: namely, the group is officially calling it quits. On Tuesday (March 7), the heavy metal pioneers posted on their social media accounts an image of the iconic Black Sabbath purple-and-black logo, accompanied by the dates, “1968-2017.” An accompanying hashtag read, #TheEnd.

The band played their presumed final show on February 4 in their home city of Birmingham, West Midlands, in Great Britain. As reported by Contact Music, singer Ozzy Osbourne confessed to “a whirlwind of emotions” prior to the show. “I remember playing the Crown pub in Birmingham and thinking, ‘This'll be good for a couple of years--drink a few beers and have a jam,’” he said. “But it was the beginning of the most incredible adventure you could think of. I’ve had the best life out of it.”
