Gloria Jones, the wife of the legendary T-Rex lead singer Marc Bolan, paid a personal visit to the Gibson showroom in London to sign the Tribute to Marc Bolan 10 foot Gibson Les Paul. The free-standing fiberglass replica guitar named “Wild Swan” was specially designed and hand painted with acrylic paint by the acclaimed visual artist Mark Eurich.

The unique 10 foot Gibson Les Paul guitar has been an integral part of the Gibson Guitartown London charity campaign, which has been on public display around More London, South Bank, SE1 by City Hall throughout the summer months. The guitar along with 60 other specially hand painted 10 foot Gibson Les Paul’s and regular sized Gibson SG guitars will be auctioned off to raise money for The Prince’s Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy at an auction event in Central London later this year.

Gloria Jones said “Mark Eurich was able to catch the sweet spirit of Marc. Through his music he was alive and lived every day to play his Gibson Guitar”

All the giant guitars have all been individually and creatively hand painted by many acclaimed visual artists such as Sir Peter Blake, Andrew Logan and Gerald Scarfe and signed by household name British musicians such as Sir Paul McCartney, Noel Gallagher, Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Brian May, Ozzy Osbourne, Mark Knopfler, Rod Stewart, Keane, Stereophonics, James Blunt, Razorlight, KT Tunstall, New Order, Magic Numbers, Graham Coxon, Gallows, Kasabian, the Kooks, Dirty Pretty Things, and a Tribute to Les Paul guitar to name a few.

A further 30 regular sized Gibson SG guitars were also on public display around The O2 in Greenwich during the summer months and signed by leading musicians such as Ronnie Wood, Slash, The View, Kaiser Chiefs, Roger Waters, Depeche Mode, Mark Ronson, Lemmy and Corinne Bailey Rae to name a few which will also go under the hammer at the charity auction.

Gloria Jones was in London to attend a special Marc Bolan tribute concert marking 30 years since the singers death, held at the Shepard’s Bush Empire and featured a number of guest artists including Mark Almond who performed Teenage Dream. The night ended in true Marc Bolan style with the roof raising hits “Get It On,” “Hot Love,” and “I love to Boogie.”
