Gibson Guitar Corporation, the world’s premier manufacturer of musical instruments, is seeking an
Intellectual Property Staff Attorney to be based out of Nashville, Tennessee. The IP staff attorney will report to Gibson’s General Counsel and will have the responsibility of coordinating global IP functions.
Highlights of Job Responsibilities:• Direct the provision of comprehensive intellectual property legal services, including patent, trademark, copyright, licensing, research and development
• Develop and implement the IP strategy of this global company
• Negotiate and draft contracts
• Provide advice and counsel to various departments of the company
• Chosen candidate is expected to develop an in-depth knowledge of Gibson’s products
• Ability to complete and file routine renewals and usage statements
Minimum Job Qualifications:• Must have Juris Doctor degree from accredited ABA school
• Licensed and in good standing in Tennessee
• 5+ years legal experience
• Minimum 5 years in an IP role, with demonstrated mastery in negotiating or advising on significant, complex, and high value IP transactional matters
• Patent bar membership is a plus
• International experience preferred
• Progressive responsibility with contract review and negotiation
• Excellent analytical skills
• “Roll up the sleeves” mentality
Candidates must already be located in Nashville, as relocation is not offered.
This position can be negotiated as a less-than-full time position.
