Gibson Guitar, the world's leading musical instrument manufacturer, seeks an experienced and visionary editor for Gibson.com.
Position Purpose: Candidate will tend to the marketing needs of a historic company by helping shape and create innovative marketing content.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Recruit and manage a first-rate team of contributing freelance writers, specializing in guitar and other musical instruments.
• Work closely with writers to assign stories, communicate tone, and maintain tight deadline schedule.
• Manage the fast-paced daily needs of product content and marketing initiatives, working closely with other corporate teams to meet directives.
• Pitch in wherever necessary. Duties may include writing and editing marketing materials and press releases, and contributing in any editorial or marketing capacity.
• Report to Editorial Director and work both independently and directly with other editors and writers.
Knowledge and Skills: • Candidate must have extensive knowledge of Gibson instruments, and a strong background in publishing, marketing or the MI industry.
• Candidate must have experience successfully managing and working with a diverse team of independent people.
• Candidate must be computer savvy, in order to post and edit live content.
• Adept at creating powerful, intelligent marketing content.
• Highly organized and a strong and creative idea generator.
• Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced, results-driven environment and to work consistently and efficiently with a busy staff under tight deadlines.
Education and Work Experience: • This is
NOT an entry level position. The right candidate must have at least
10 years of writing and editing experience with a major publication, marketing or advertising agency.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Published clips and recommendations from previous employers.
• Daily publication or online experience preferred.
