Willie Nelson has dozens of albums already under his belt, but he may have just found the recipe for one of his best releases yet.
The legendary troubadour has signed with a new label — Rounder Records — and teamed with music’s preeminent producer, T-Bone Burnett, to create his new album Country Music, due out April 13.
Burnett is the man behind Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’ Raising Sand (which took home the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2009) and the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack (which scored Album of the Year in 2002), among other iconic albums.
Country Music includes collaborations with banjo player Riley Baugus and double bassist Dennis Crouch, both of whom worked with Plant, Krauss and Burnett on Raising Sand.
Nelson last released American Classic in August on the Blue Note imprint. Before that he issued a number of records on the Lost Highway label.
Currently on tour, Nelson has U.S. dates scheduled all the way through August 2010.
