Aidin Vaziri | 09.09.2008

Noel Gallagher was attacked by a stage-invader midway through Oasis’ headlining set on Sunday at the Virgin Festival on Toronto Island Park. In the video above (around minute mark 1:30), the assailant can be seen rushing the 41-year-old guitarist from behind and violently shoving him into the monitor speakers as the group performed “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory” in front of approximately 20,000 fans.

Security personnel quickly hauled off the suspect, identified as Daniel Sullivan, 47, from Pickering, Ontario, as Gallagher’s 35-year-old brother Liam attempted to jump into the fray. On Monday, Sullivan was charged with one count of assault and released from custody on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 24, according Toronto police Const. Tony Vella.

“Despite his injuries, Noel returned to the stage a few minutes later to complete the band’s set but was taken to hospital after the show to be examined for a suspected fractured rib and ligament damage,” said a post on the band’s Web site.

Oasis fans, meanwhile, have decided to take matters into their own hands posting a “wanted” bulletin on the forum, live4ever.com. Anyone that has faced the wrath of the Gallagher brothers knows this isn’t a band you want to piss off. ―Aidin Vaziri
