Paul McCartney is keeping busy.
On Monday, he joined his old band mate Ringo Starr in Los Angeles to help introduce the video game, The Beatles: Rock Band. There’s also the forthcoming recording project with Bob Dylan. And on Wednesday it was announced that the former Beatle will play the first-ever concerts at Citi Field, the new home of the New York Mets, on July 17 and 18.
“I am really excited about playing Citi Field,” McCartney said in a statement. “The Beatles were the first to play at Shea Stadium and along with Billy Joel, I was the last to sing at the old Shea. So to be the first to play this stadium is incredible. I am really looking forward to a buzzing show.”
The shows will mark McCartney’s first U.S. appearances since he headlined the Coachella Festival in May with a load of Beatles classics in tow.
Meanwhile, it looks like Starr will join McCartney and Dylan when they meet up in the studio later this summer. A source tells Britain’s Daily Express, “Ringo is mainly based in Los Angeles, close to where both Paul and Bob also have homes. The word is Ringo is likely to play drums on a couple of tracks once Paul and Bob have put some songs together.”
