Courtney Love Resurrects Hole for New Album

Axl Rose did it. Billy Corgan did it. Now Courtney Love is the latest rock star to reform her old band without actually recruiting any of her former band mates.

In an interview with the British music weekly, NME, Love claims that her long-in-the-making solo album, Nobody’s Daughter, will now be coming out as a new release by Hole, the band she broke up in 2002.

Former Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur (who also played with the Smashing Pumpkins) may actually be on board for the project but, as of now, only for backing vocals. That would make her the only other holdover from the group’s peak-period lineup.

The article says the rest of the reconstituted Hole will include members of little-known British indie rock bands Love has brought back to Los Angeles, including guitarist Micko Larkin.

Even though Love insists the album will most likely arrive later this year if not early next year, her fans probably know not to get their hopes up. Having started work on Nobody’s Daughter with Linda Perry back in 2006, the NME article says the Hole singer is now on her third producer and fourth studio with the project.
