Bonamassa’s “Albert Hall” DVD Gets Release Date

Aidin Vaziri | 07.30.2009

Guitarist extraordinaire Joe Bonamassa, Guitar Player magazine readers’ pick for "Best Blues Guitarist" three years running, has set a Sept. 29 release date for his new DVD, Live From the Royal Albert Hall.

But why wait? We got the trailer right here, right now!

The 32-year-old Bonamassa told Modern Guitars magazine the sold-out concert was, “"Twenty years of professional sweat and toil all culminating into one moment.”

It was filmed by the guitarist’s regular collaborator Kevin Shirley, who shot the two-disc set using 12 high-definition cameras and surround-sound audio. Filmmakers Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen directed.

The concert features guest spots by Rock And Roll Hall of Famer Eric Clapton for a version of “Further On Up The Road” and former Manfred Mann singer Paul Jones on “Your Funeral, My Trial.”

"I find that the higher you go up the ladder sometimes, the more humble and nice people are,” Bonamassa said. “That's truly the case of Eric Clapton; he's my hero and the reason I play the way I play, just basically one of those guys who plugs the guitar straight into an amp and it sounds like him."
