Fresh from a stint on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew, original Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler was back in court last week to answer drug charges stemming from a July arrest, asking the judge to allow him to once again return to rehab and the opportunity to join his former band.
Adler was booted from the group in 1990 as a result of his excessive drug use – even by vintage Guns N' Roses' standards. His lawyer Barry Gerald Sands told Reuters the drummer is now ready to get back together with the group.
"When he gets sober, they'll accept him into the band and then they'll do a comeback album and a world tour, that's the dream of Steven Adler," Sands told Reuters.
During the court session, Adler pleaded no-contest to a charge of heroin possession. In 2006, he conceded that he had suffered a stroke after overdosing on a speedball, leaving him with a speech impediment.
Adler is due back in court on December 12, where he will find out if he is eligible for another stay in rehab instead of jail.
Axl Rose was unavailable for comment.
