As expected, legendary rockers AC/DC will embark on an extensive 18-month world tour beginning in October in support of their upcoming new release, tentatively titled Black Ice.
Rob Light, a managing partner at Creative Artists Agency, confirmed the news during a panel discussion yesterday at the International Association of Assembly Managers’ 83rd annual conference and trade show in Anaheim, Calif. Although he didn’t reveal any further details on the outing, Light and other members of the panel did say that AC/DC will be one of a number of major artists set to hit the road in 2009 and beyond.
“We have a great idea for KISS to go out and do a big arena tour,” Light said. According to other panel members, Eric Clapton, Mariah Carey, Green Day, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Stevie Wonder, Slipknot, Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Journey, and Brad Paisley, among others, are also preparing major tours for the coming year.
AC/DC’s new album is set to be released on October 27 exclusively at Wal-Mart, and a single—titled “Runaway Train”—is expected to be released to radio by late August. Black Ice, the Australian rockers’ first album of new material in eight years, and 15th overall, was recorded in Canada at Bryan Adams’ studio, and is produced by Brendan O’Brien.—Gabriel J. Hernandez
