As previously reported, AC/DC will launch an 18-month tour this October in support of the forthcoming Black Ice ― but only now have concrete details about the tour emerged. The first leg of the Black Ice World Tour opens Oct. 28 at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., with 23 more arena shows scheduled in the U.S. Further dates in North and South America, Europe, and Asia are to be announced shortly.
The first worldwide tour for AC/DC since ’01, the Black Ice tour celebrates the release of AC/DC's new album, due out Oct. 20 and sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and acdc.com. The album’s first single “Rock ‘N’ Roll Train” has already reached No. 1 on the Rock Radio chart. Produced by Brendan O’Brien, Black Ice is the first studio album in eight years and features 15 new tracks from brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd.
Tickets will go on sale the weekend of Sept. 20 at Ticketmaster and also through the band’s own site. —Ellen Mallernee
